The Electric Upright
Bass (EUB) Database is an open project for sharing and archiving information about EUBs (EURBs or upright electric basses), electric double basses, electric contrabasses, amplified portable double basses, electric stand-up basses, travel basses, collapsible uprights, baby basses, stick basses, "silent" upright basses, electric bowed basses, compact gamba basses, and eclectic uprights, but not those found underwater possibly edible... ok, uprights without the doghouse, that is, and other similar stringed musical instruments.
If you play such an instrument, share your experience.
If you build or sell EUBs,
post a blurb!
March 2011: The American Red Cross announced an initial contribution of $10 million to the Japanese Red Cross Society to assist in its ongoing efforts to provide medical care and relief assistance to the people of Japan following the March 11 earthquake and tsunami. You can help support the disaster relief efforts by making a donation to the American Red Cross.
http://dvoi.com/proj/eubdbMikael Jansson at @privat.utfors.se (you've read his articles in Bass Player magazine) is working on a book about EUBs. Please contact him if you're a maker not featured here or if you own an unusual EUB.
Feel free to add a profile to the directory. Updates and corrections also welcome.
If you play the bass, please share your experience.
A discussion forum (with searchable archives) is on-line for anyone who's interested in EUBs.

Many thanks to Mikael Jansson for his invaluable contributions to the EUB database. Without his help, this Web site wouldn't have existed. You can find his articles in Bass Player magazine, as well as in Double Bassist magazine in the UK. He has also been an active contributor to the bassist community and other music resources on the net, many of which are found on Bob Gollihur's web site. I would also like to thank Bob, who inspired me. My thanks also go to François Blais for helping me fix Luthier Directory/Review editor bugs and improve this site; Jill Azola for her suggestions; Mo Clifton for his input; Sven-Henrik Gawron for Vektor Germany EUB info; Ray Ramírez for his help and suggestions. And a big thanks to the bassists and luthiers who contributed to the project.
