I started making elec bass in 1976, made acoustic bass gamba for northern rennaissance instruments in manchester in 1979, got hooked on carved top instruments and made several basses in the 80's, made several acoustic bass guitars first and then started the stick bass in 1982, my idea was to have a bass that looked like it had shrunk in the wash, so thats the reason for the carved top, also my logo was the celtic peace symbol on the head, which i still use, the woods are usually exotic wood overlay on the top and walnut, maple, or elm for the hollow back, the neck is maple and fingerboard is ebony or rosewood, they are fitted with piezzo under the bridge or magnetic if required. other custom options availible like l.e.d. markers for 3,5,7,9,12 fret positions[handy on a dark stage]
