Made from a solid Piece of Mahogany, with a set in neck. Every inch is handmade right down to the endpin wood in the rubber stopper. It is a general plan he uses. He draws it out on the wood and from there its all from his hands. He states he prefers the Underwood Pickup to all others and builds his basses for it...but will accommodate any system you want. The upper bout is hinged to a slotted piece of maple that slides down a screw in pinch pin. Put it in place and simply tighten it down.
The Piece had received rave reviews from everyone who has seen it and heard it. Used it at several gigs already and I love it!!! Strong clear ringing tone. The attack is fast, low and solid. Sustain is strong.
A very impressive instrument. I have been having Sal do my work for about 6 or 7 years now. A master at wood work. I work in a local music instrument shop and as far as all the retailers go in New Orleans, if anybody has an expensive guitar such as a 1930's Martin for repair we call on Sal despite our own repairmen. He's the man when it comes to specialty wood work and it is reflected in the craftsman ship of this awesome instrument. I received it about the first week of May 2002 and am growing more fond of it by the day. He tells me this is about number 6 or 7.
His hand carved spruce and maple fullsize traditional upright goes for about 20,000. These EUB's are a real value and sound awesome.
