This is my second Eminence bass bought from maker Gary Bartig.  My first was a 4 string fixed neck bass purchased two years ago.  I recently sold that bass to purchase the detachable neck version as I'm flying for gigs more (the neck comes off and the whole thing packs into a travel golf club case).

I've played upright bass for almost twenty years, so I had a pretty good feel for what I was looking for prior to buying this bass.  I didn't have an opportunity to try a lot of EUB's.  The only other that I actually played was the NS Design EUB - an extremely cool looking instrument, but I felt for that kind of sound, I might as well be playing a fretless electric.

After trying, and buying, Gary's bass, it's become my main instrument.  I use it for 99% of my gigs (about twice weekly).  The sound is almost 100% the same as the amplified sound of my German flatback.  I've also done studio recordings direct to the board ( http://www.cdbaby.com/cd/dannewt... ) and the sound has been terrific.

Gary does an incredible job setting up the instrument - it plays like butter.  A super nice guy to do business with.  You'll have no customer service complaints with Gary.  And I have yet to hear of anyone who has not been satisfied with their new Eminence bass.

The photo I've linked shows the beautiful flamed maple back on my bass.

Feel free to search the 2xbasslist archives ( http://www.dcs.ed.ac.uk/home/dcs... ) for additional feedback on this exceptional instrument.

p.s. I have no affiliation or endorsement of this product, I'm just an enthusiastically satisfied customer!
