This unusually shaped bass may seem like a novelty item, but is actually a pretty decent instrument for its ultra-cheap price, which included bow & bag. Made in China by Minjisheng Co., sold as Sojing, Jisheng, Moondog and other names. Hardware, especially tuners, is rather flimsy. Neck a trifle thick to my taste, sticky finish needed to be smoothed. Active electronics work OK. Needs a good amp, with gain control. Well set up, with a set of good strings, it produces a very loud, booming sound quite alike to the real thing. The bass is very large and VERY heavy (app. 11 kg) so, size-wise, you might as well drag the acoustic around. If, however, you want a cheap, sturdy, reliable on-stage instrument without feedback problems AND a cool shape -something most EUBs unfortunately lack- this is a fine alternative.
