So it is with the Ergo.  Not a doghouse, but the "something else" it is is a tone machine that responds to the touch.  Have I been fiddling with the action, the stand, amplification?  Of course and one must and one should learn to do some work on ones own tools, making them most suitable for the finer points of the work.

One could spend much much more on a Stienberger etc., or on a bow for that matter, but if you want to experience an upright and you don't know where to begin, send Jesse the $700 and get started!  I have heard various criticisms from complaints about the stand and the stand/body joint (hint: lean the bass forward on two legs of the tripod stand so it can move with you- liberation! And it removes virtually all stress from the stand/body joint)to complaints about the fingerboard or whatever.  My experience is this: Jesse will work with you regarding concerns about your bass.
