This bass is now at newjerseyguitar.com pending restoration. It came from the estate of a retired musician. It is fretted and has a 33" scale. It has an endpin. The neck has a flat, fretted fingerboard but ends in a double bass type scroll. The pickup is apparently a Rickenbacker horseshoe model.
The bass itself could be classified as a mandobass, only these usually have regular 3/4 double bass cales (40-42"). The pickup suggests it was made in the 2nd half of the 1930s.
