I am going to build an eub. (reason: I don't want to use my beautiful 100 year old German ub in non-excellent performing conditions...) Off course, I want the best sound possible, yet knowing that an eub isn't an ub. But... Is it impossible to get the 'boom'-attack of an ub with a solid body? What kind of wood should I use for fingerboard & body to obtain the best result? I consider making a Kydd-like neck & body-concept in one piece, and so I have only room for a small bridge. Are piëzo-acoust bassguitar saddles a good option, also for bowing? Any advise is welcome!
