I think there's a reason why we don't see metal EUBs...

I'm not a specialist, but I think there are several cons:
- Weight (you'd probably need to use a very light metal if you don't want your instrument to be heavy. Aluminum maybe?) But it may be quite expensive and not easy to work.
- I think you should avoid screws as much as possible. Aluminum is not easy to solder.
- The delay of propagation of sound in metal is much higher than in wood I think, and this may be a problem. (this is not the same thing as strings, and anyway, IMO, organic material in strings is much better! Re: gut strings.
I once had an Original Baby Bass with a cast aluminum bridge, and this was a disaster. The first thing I did was to replace it with a maple bridge!
