Well, the top will not be flat, I'll make it a bit rounded. I think it's nicer. But nice to hear it'll improve the string balance....

I think I have to experiment with piezo material. I once made my own pickup, and really liked the sound of it. Used it on my backup-bass (cheap old double bass). Perhaps realist-style, perhaps underwood, perhaps a combination....whatever sounds great. I'm used to experiment a lot with double bass elements, the placement is in my opinion not only a powerful EQ but also the total balance of the response, dynamics.
