Decent condenser is always going to give a more faithful sound.
I'm using a K+K Bass-Max / Golden Trinity mic combo from Bob Golihur, wired into 2 channel pre-amp. Mic is unidirectional condenser on goose neck clipped to inside of bridge foot.
Separate channel volume controls mean you can balance the amounts of mic and transducer, so you get best of both worlds, depending on the situation. Sounds ideal for you, nice acoustic sound from the mic, with a touch of punch from the (very hot) transducer.
Mind you, as soon as you're playing through a PA, its 'off' for the microphone or 'SKWEEEEEAAAL'
