Electric Upright Bass Database

when i purchased my Azola bug bass it came with a set of strings i didn't recognize. I was advised to take them off and put some Thomastiks on (wiechs).I didn't think twice about trying the originals because I was suh a die hard Thomatik fan.The sound was great except for the g string. I found it to be dead. I first thought it was the fingerboard but later I tried the original strings and the problem went away. Does anybody have an idea what brand that could be?
