 Coming from a bass guitar background I am puzzled whether thumb-position is necessary on EUB? Is it a technique merely for getting around the acoustics' body or does it have a legitimate musical purpose?
Obviously it would be an advantage to have thumb-position down if I were to play acoustic at some stage but what are the merits for thumb-position on EUB?

I would welcome any players/ manufacturers comments, Thanks.
